A studio built for feel, not force
At Rickinghall Folk Studio, I specialise in recording small folk groups playing together live. The aim is not to iron the life out of a performance. It is to keep the movement, interaction and natural energy that make acoustic music work in the first place.
You play as musicians normally play: together, listening, reacting, and shaping the tune in the room. We take the pressure off by working through several takes rather than chasing one perfect pass.
Later, I blend the strongest sections from those live takes so you keep the spirit of a real performance while ending up with a polished release-ready result.

1. Set up in the room
I arrange the session to suit your group, instruments and balance, with the goal of making it comfortable to play naturally together.
2. Record multiple takes
No click tracks. No rigid pressure. We work through enough takes to let the music settle and to capture strong complete performances.
3. Build the final version
I blend the best passages from your live takes to create a finished track that still feels like a band playing in one room.
4. Mix, master and deliver
You receive polished masters ready for release, plus the live recording streams for any additional future processing you may want.

Sessions are charged at a straightforward day rate, with a typical pace of 3 to 5 tracks per day depending on arrangement, instrumentation and how much refinement is needed.
That makes the process ideal for duos, trios and small acoustic groups who want a natural live sound without turning the session into an overworked studio marathon.
I can also help with the release side once the audio is finished, whether that means preparing tracks for streaming platforms or advising on the path to CD or vinyl manufacture.
